The crowd was ecstatic as the opening kickoff began. The student section was on their feet as the BC High Eagles kicked off to the Marshfield Rams. It appeared that the Rams returned the opening kick for a touchdown, but a penalty nullified the score. The game was all BC High from that point on. The Rams then started their drive down the field, but they were quickly stopped when number 25, Louis Timmons, intercepted a pass and returned it 10 yards; the Eagles set up shop at their own 36 yard line. As they marched down the field, the Eagles ended the drive with a pass to Jacob Perez for a touchdown, making it 7-0 with seven minutes left in the first quarter. The Rams were again quickly stopped by the Eagles defense. The first quarter ended with a 7-6 advantage for BC High after the Rams ran one in for a touchdown, but they missed the extra point. The Eagles gained big yardage throughout the game with amazing passing and catching. As the Eagles marched to the Rams’s 10 yard line, Brendan Cassamajor ran it in for another BC High touchdown, making it 14-6. Throughout the night, the Eagles defense was solid, stopping the Rams and gaining possession again. With a 1:20 remaining in the half, number 11, Aidan Sullivan, caught a pass for another Eagle touchdown. The Eagles entered halftime with a 21-6 lead over the Marshfield Rams.
On the opening second half kickoff, Mike Mullaly brought the ball to the Eagles own 40. Another successful drive ensued, as Brendan Cassamajor ran in for another touchdown, this one coming from 15 yards out. The score was now 27-6 Eagles. The Rams quarterback was injured and pulled off the field on a stretcher after being hit on an option play. Their backup proceeded to immediately throw a 40 yard touchdown pass, demonstrating the grit of the Marshfield team. The Eagles failed to score on their following drive, giving the Rams the ball at their own 20. Carter Rice intercepted the ball and gave the Eagles the ball on the Rams’s 40, taking away all of the Rams’s momentum. Rice then proceeded to score another touchdown, adding an exclamation point to the Eagles’s dominant performance with a final score of 34-13.
