Poem: Lips of Stone

Please seal your lips again

Owen Kenney '21, Contributor

Greetings, my gaunt gentleman,

Your harsh gaze compels my own.

I seek your words, your insight,

And yet your lips remain sealed.

Made this way by your vengeful creator,

So resolute, so solitary.

Please move your lips of stone,

Unseal the cement which keeps you silent.

Ah, your mouth! It opens!

A shame, as only horrendous drivel

Tumbles out of your mouth.

Please seal your lips again,

Do not plague me with your barbaric thoughts.

I understand now your stoic silence,

Your wretched existence.

Forced into silence,

As you have nothing meaningful to say.
