Asian Culture Club

Christian Topinio ‘23

Every Thursday, many, including myself, flock to Q201 with one purpose in mind: to go to Asian Culture Club. As one of the multitudes of clubs in the school, we in Asian Culture Club stand out by our unique, collective Asian identity, similarly to how others stand out through their culture. But this does not mean that only Asians can participate in the club. In fact, we want to heavily spread our identity and culture through our weekly activities. This is supported by the following interview from the office of the committee members of The Students’ Republic of BC High. I want to sincerely thank them, club members, our moderator, and other faculty and staff for forming the club and giving me and many others the ability to freely have a space in which we can express our cultural identity.

Q: What made you want to go to the club in the first place?

A: Generally, we all came to Asian Culture Club looking for a space to develop culturally, as well as a space that allows us to learn about the cultures of neighboring nations.

Q: For readers of the Eagle, what would a typical day in the club be like?

A: Since school is stressful, the club is centered around letting students wind down after a long day, while continuing to foster a learning atmosphere.

Q: What is the goal of Asian Culture Club?
A: ACC is focused on fostering cultural inclusivity through education and normalization of Asian culture in America and in our local school community.

Q: Did you have any specific experience or meet any person in ACC that you will always remember?
A: Our past president, Michael Song (Tufts University Class of 2023), was a focal point within our club. He embodied our central mission and maintained a high standard for our club.

Q: Are there any other things you want to say for the Eagle?

A: COME TO ACC! WE HAVE FREE FOOD AND TRIPS TO PLACES SUCH AS QUINCY AND CHINATOWN. WE MAY EVEN GO TO H-MART! WE MEET THURSDAYS IN Q201! HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
